Certified Group is a leader in the testing and audit services industry serving clients in food and beverages, supplements, cosmetics, nicotine products, and cannabis. Certified Group operates 30 ISO 17025 and A2LA Accredited Operating Laboratories in 20 states. The company recently merged with Food Safety Net Services to create a combined company with nearly 1,600 employees and $275M in revenue. Certified Group is co-invested in by private equity firms Warburg Pincus and Tilia Holdings.

The Role

Certified Group is seeking laboratory leaders for six sites across their laboratory network: Allentown, PA; Columbus, OH; Minneapolis, MN; Omaha, NE; Fresno, CA; Turlock, CA.

To support the development and growth of these six locations, Certified Group is seeking Laboratory Managers to assume the leadership of each facility’s personnel, operations, and P&L. Each Laboratory Director will be responsible for ~$10-20M in P&L, 4-5 direct reports, and ~20-50 total employees.

Experience & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; chemistry, biotechnology, or sciences is preferred. Master’s degree is preferred but not required.
• At least seven years of experience; five years of management experience is preferred. Experience in a TIC space is highly preferred.
• Advanced understanding of laboratory operational workflows and process improvement (i.e., six sigma, TQM).
• Ability to create and manage KPIs that indicate high client service and quality. Ability to conduct and organize QMS internal/external audit.
• Ability to interpret and explain FDA policies and regulations and strong knowledge of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is required. Experience with international and domestic regulations is highly desired.
• Strong financial, quantitative, and analytical skills. Experience managing a budget or P&L is highly preferred.
• Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills; comfortable and credible with both internal stakeholders and external audiences.
• Able to work up, down, and across large organizations; connects at all levels, i.e., lab operations, management, executives.
• A flexible, dynamic, self-demanding and proactive individual; able to motivate themselves and others.
