Shore Capital launched the Ackerman Trade Services platform in 2024 with its inaugural investment in Ackerman Plumbing. Shore plans to expand Ackerman Trade Services rapidly into new geographies and service lines through a series of 5-7 acquisitions and is on track to be $150M in revenue in 2025.
The initial investment, Ackerman Plumbing, is a provider of commercial plumbing services, serving industries such as cultural and community, education, healthcare, hospitality, housing, industrial, and retail. Ackerman Plumbing offers value, engineering, problem-solving, responsiveness, and integrity to clients. The company provides the best plumbing blueprint for commercial buildings and identifies and eliminates all conflicts between their plumbing systems and the other trades. With over 70 years of experience, Ackerman Plumbing is a trusted name in the industry. The company is based in Sarasota, FL, and has grown from $22M to $95M in revenue over the past two years, all through organic growth.
The Role
With Shore’s backing, Ackerman Trade Services is seeking its first Chief Human Resources Officer to support its future growth agenda. The CHRO will build out policies, procedures, and systems to professionalize and lead the HR function. The CHRO will need to effectively balance the strategic development of HR capabilities with a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves execution approach. Reporting to the CEO, this individual will be based in Charlotte, NC.
Experience & Requirements
• 10+ years of progressive HR experience in a company of appropriate size and complexity, preferably within a construction, services, or manufacturing environment. M&A integrations experience preferred.
• Experience building or scaling the HR function in high-growth, fast-paced companies.
• Demonstrated expertise in a broad range of HR topics (HR strategy, labor relations, talent management, etc.)
• Strong business acumen and ability to connect HR to broader business goals (growth, profit, services strategy, etc.)
• Track record operating successfully in unionized environments.
• Excellent knowledge of employment legislation and regulations, and human resource management principles and best practices; union experience.
• A willingness and ability to display a ‘roll up the sleeves’ approach, engaging in driving tactical execution when necessary.
• Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills; comfortable and credible with both internal
stakeholders and external audiences. Displays a high level of initiative; invites, challenges, and explores new ideas while understanding and communicating risks.
• Naturally inclusive and collaborative across a full range of internal stakeholders; leads cross-functionally by influence.
• Nimble and entrepreneurial in nature; makes decisions with imperfect information; wired for a fast-paced, high-change, private-equity sponsored environment.
• Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation skills; comfortable and credible with both internal stakeholders and external audiences.
