The Role

Monarch Bioenergy is seeking a Nutrient Recovery Project Manager to lead and manage the development of the first-of-its-kind nutrient recovery and fertilizer production facility in the United States, located in Northeastern North Carolina. This groundbreaking project will demonstrate how organic waste from agricultural operations can be converted into valuable, sustainable fertilizers using innovative technology.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact by leading this innovative facility’s construction, commissioning, and operations. Upon successfully completing the Northeastern North Carolina project, the Project Manager will spearhead the expansion of similar facilities throughout North Carolina, applying lessons learned and improving operational efficiencies.

Experience & Requirements

Education:
o Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline relevant to the role, such as Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
o Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not required.
• Experience:
o 5+ years of experience in anaerobic digestion, biogas production, nutrient recovery, or related fields.
o Experience engaging in or studying engineering projects, preferably in renewable energy, agricultural technology, or wastewater treatment.
o Demonstrated ability to manage complex technical projects from concept through operation.
o Expertise in nutrient recovery technologies and fertilizer production is a strong plus.
• Skills:
o Deep knowledge of anaerobic digestion systems, biogas production, and nutrient recovery processes, particularly in the context of organic waste from agriculture.
o Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, lead technical teams, and oversee contractor performance.
o Ability to innovate and optimize processes to drive efficiency, reduce costs, and improve sustainability outcomes.
o Excellent project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource management.
o Effective communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Other Requirements:
o Must be based in central or eastern North Carolina and can travel to Monarch’s project sites as needed.
o A strong passion for sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, and environmental innovation.
